Earthquake hits eastern Afghanistan: at least 250 feared dead

The earthquake hit at 1:24 a.m. about 46 kilometers (28.5 miles) southwest of the town of Khost, which lies near the nation’s border with Pakistan, in response to the United States Geological Survey (USGS).

The quake registered at a depth of 10 kilometers (6.2 miles), in response to USGS.

Casualties have been reported within the Barmal, Zirok, Nika and Giyan districts of Paktika province, with greater than 500 injured, in response to Bakhtar. FinalNews24 is unable to independently affirm Bakhtar’s reporting.

USGS assigned the quake a yellow alert stage, indicating some casualties are possible and that the influence must be comparatively localized. Full casualty figures will not be but clear.

In a tweet on Wednesday, the World Health Organization mentioned its groups have been on the bottom for emergency response, together with offering drugs, trauma companies and conducting wants assessments.
